Thérèse lived a very short life, dying at the age of 24. She became a Carmelite
nun at an early age after spending great energy trying to convince people, including the Pope that
this was her desire. She became a doctor of the church, a title given to very few people. She is
called the Little Flower, of the
Child Jesus
and of the
Holy Face
of Jesus.
She is known for her love of roses and is often called on to have one sent from her
heavenly garden as a sign of hope. St. Thérèse's life on earth was spent in perfect love and
service of Almighty God.
So zealously did she dedicate every thought, word and deed to Jesus in the practice of her
"Little Way" that the Holy Father has declared her "A Perfect Miniature of Holiness ...
The Greatest Saint of Modern Times."

, depicting Our Lady's appearance to the child, Therese, which changed her life forever! The
2" sterling cross reminds us of St. Therese's devotion to the Holy Face. Limited edition!

This chaplet of St. Therese of the Child Jesus was inspired by my friend, Angela, who couldn't
decide between a St. Therese or Infant of Prague chaplet ... It occurred to us that the loop of the
Infant of Prague chaplet has twelve beads, and could be used for the St. Therese chaplet if one goes
twice around the loop! So I combined the two devotions for her. [Yes, technically,
this has an
Infant
of Prague
configuration ... remember that the essence of any chaplet is the prayers, not the beads ... so here
you have two chaplets for the price of one!]
This chaplet features an extraordinary
center-piece
, depicting Our Lady's appearance to the child, Therese, which changed her life forever!
Soft gold 8mm rounds of floral cloisonne remind us of St. Therese's promise to send a shower of
roses! Both the centerpiece and stunning Infant of Prague pendant are bronze. One of a

A carved rose reminds us of the sign of hope St. Thérèse has promised us.
Both the beautifully detailed 1.5" rose and 8mm facetted Gloria beads are carved
from Honey Jade, in softly varying shades of creamy gold. The Credo bead is a 12mm facetted
rondelle of Rutilated Quartz, showered with gold rutiles.

This sweet little medal, exquisitely detailed and just 3/4" high,
illustrates Our Lady appearing to young Therese in her sickbed, in the apparition known as
"Our Lady of Smiles".
We rescued this rare vintage medal (shown in the sad condition it was received) from obscurity
and had it cast to share the faith of this little saint with another generation of her
faithful.

Prayers
|
|
Said on the Chaplet of St. Thérèse,
consisting of
the medal of St. Thérèse, and a large
bead followed by
twenty-four smaller beads.
On the first bead recite this prayer:
St. Thérèse of the Infant Jesus, Patroness of Missions,
Pray for us!
On each of the twenty-four beads, in
honor of the
Blessed Trinity,
in thanksgiving for giving the world the
little saint
who lived only twenty-four years,
the following is said:
Glory be to the Father, and the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
The chaplet is concluded by saying the
Prayer to St. Thérèse:
St. Thérèse, the Little Flower, please pick me a rose from the
Heavenly Garden and send it to me with a message of love.
Ask God to grant me the favor I thee
implore, and tell Him
I will love Him each day more and more.
Amen.
"Novena"
The St. Thérèse Prayer above,
plus five each of the Our Father, Hail Mary, and Gloria,
must be said on five successive days before 11:00AM.
On the fifth day, when the fifth set of
prayers has been completed,
offer one more set of five each of the three prayers.

Our Lady of the Smile
|
|
As a child, St. Therese had an encounter with Mary that forever changed the course
of her life. When she was a young girl in France, she became quite ill. The doctor
informed Therese's father that nothing more could be done for her.
Her family was no stranger to suffering. They had just lost their mother from
breast cancer.
Her father arranged for Mass to be said for her healing at the Sanctuary of Our
Lady of the Victories. He also moved into Therese's room a statue of the Blessed Virgin known as
Our Lady of the Smile (a favorite of the Martin children who used to shower it with kisses)
On May 13, 1883, Therese recovered. She ascribed her healing to the presence
of the statue:
"Suddenly, I have never seen anything so attractive. Her face was
alive with great kindness and tenderness and she smiled a most ravishing smile. At once all my pain
left me and I cried two large tears which slid down silently down my cheeks. Yes! I
thought, the virgin has smiled on me. How Blessed I am!"
Her sister Marie was there at the time, and much later at the hearings for
Therese's beatification, she testified to what had happened when saw Therese in ecstasy. "I
knew at once she was looking at no mere statue but that she saw the Blessed Virgin herself. It
lasted about five minutes. I knew she would be cured."
In 1895 Therese developed tuberculosis in both lungs. She suffered terrible
hemorrhages and had to be taken from her cell to the infirmary. The statue of Our Lady of the
Smile was placed at the foot of her bed.
On 30 September 1897 Therese lay dying when suddenly she raised her head from her
pillow and gazed in ecstasy at the statue. After a few minutes she sighed, fell back on to the
bed and died. Her sister Marie was with her. Later she reported, "Her stare was held
fixed a little above the statue and I saw again that look on her face she first displayed as a child
--- all love and adoration --- when the Blessed Virgin had healed her. It is impossible to
describe, except to say it was something heavenly"

BIOGRAFÍA
TERESA MARTIN nació en Alençon, Francia, el 2 de enero de 1873. Dos días más tarde fue bautizada.
en la Iglesia de Nôtre-Dame, recibiendo los nombres de María Francisca Teresa. Sus padres fueron
Luis Martin y Celia Guérin, ambos venerables en la actualidad. Tras la muerte de su madre, el 28 de
agosto de 1877, Teresa se trasladó con toda la familia a Lisieux.
A finales de 1879 recibió por vez primera el sacramento de la Penitencia. El día
de Pentecostés de 1883, recibió la gracia especial de ser curada de una grave enfermedad por la
intercesión de Nuestra Señora de las Victorias (la Virgen de la Sonrisa). Educada por las
Benedictinas de Lisieux, recibió la primera comunión el 8 de mayo de 1884, después de una intensa
preparación, culminada con una fuerte experiencia de la gracia de la íntima comunión con Cristo.
Algunas semanas más tarde, el 14 de junio del mismo año, recibió la Confirmación, con plena
conciencia de acoger el don del Espíritu Santo mediante una participación personal en la gracia de
Pentecostés.
Su deseo era abrazar la vida contemplativa, al igual que sus hermanas Paulina y
María, en el Carmelo de Lisieux, pero su temprana edad se lo impedía. Durante un viaje a Italia,
después de haber visitado la Santa Casa de Loreto y los lugares de la Ciudad Eterna, el 20 de
noviembre de 1887, en la audiencia concedida por el Papa León XIII a los peregrinos de la diócesis
de Lisieux, pidió al Papa con filial audacia autorización para poder entrar en el Carmelo con 15
años.
El 9 de abril de 1888 ingresó en el Carmelo de Lisieux. Tomó el hábito el 10 de
enero del año siguiente e hizo su profesión religiosa el 8 de septiembre de 1890, fiesta de la
Natividad de la Virgen María.
En el Carmelo comenzó el camino de perfección trazado por la Madre Fundadora,
Teresa de Jesús, con auténtico fervor y fidelidad, y cumpliendo los diferentes oficios que le fueron
confiados (fue también maestra de novicias). Iluminada por la Palabra de Dios, y probada
especialmente por la enfermedad de su queridísimo padre, Luis Martin, que falleció el 29 de julio de
1894, emprendió el camino hacia la santidad, inspirada en la lectura del Evangelio y poniendo el amor
al centro de todo. Teresa nos ha dejado en sus manuscritos autobiográficos no sólo los recuerdos de
la infancia y de la adolescencia, sino también el retrato de su alma y la descripción de sus
experiencias más íntimas. Descubre y comunica a las novicias confiadas a sus cuidados; el camino de
la infancia espiritual; recibe como don especial el encargo do acompañar con la oración y el
sacrificio a dos hermanos misioneros (el Padre Roulland, misionero en China y el Padre Belliére).
Penetra cada vez más en el misterio de la Iglesia y siente crecer su vocación apostólica y
misionera para arrastrar consigo a los demás, movida por el amor de Cristo, su Único Esposo.
El 9 de junio de 1895, en la fiesta de la Santísima Trinidad, se ofreció como
victima inmolada al Amor misericordioso de Dios. Por entonces escribe el primer manuscrito
autobiográfico, que entregó a la Madre Inés el día de su onomástica, el 21 de enero de 1896.
Algunos meses más tarde, el 3 de abril, durante la noche del jueves al viernes
santo, sufrió una hemotisis, primera manifestación de la enfermedad que la llevaría a la muerte, y
que ella acogió como una misteriosa visita del Esposo divino. Entró entonces en una prueba de fe que
duraría hasta el final de su vida, y de la que ofrece un emotivo testimonio en sus escritos. Durante
el mes de septiembre concluye el manuscrito B, que ilustra de manera impresionante el grado
de santidad al que había llegado, especialmente por el descubrimiento de su vocación en el corazón
de la Iglesia.
Mientras empeora su salud y continúa el tiempo de prueba, en el mes de junio
comienza el manuscrito C, dedicado a la Madre María de Gonzaga; entretanto, nuevas gracias
la llevan a madurar plenamente en la perfección y descubre nuevas luces para la difusión de su
mensaje en la Iglesia, en bien de las almas que seguirán su camino. El 8 de julio es llevada a la
enfermería, donde otras religiosas recogen sus palabras, a la vez que se le tornan más intensos los
dolores y las pruebas, que soporta con paciencia hasta su muerte, acaecida en la tarde del 30 de
septiembre de 1897. "Yo no muero, entro en la vida" había escrito a su
hermano espiritual misionero, P. Mauricio Belliére. Sus últimas palabras, "Dios mío, te
amo", sellan una vida que se extinguió en la tierra a los 24 años, para entrar, según su
deseo, en una nueva fase de presencia apostólica en favor de las almas, en la comunión de los
Santos, para derramar una "lluvia de rosas" sobre el mundo (lluvia de favores y
beneficios, especialmente para amar más a Dios).
Fue canonizada por Pío XI el 17 de mayo de 1925, y el mismo Papa, el 14 de
diciembre de 1927, la proclamó Patrona Universal de las Misiones, junto con San Francisco Javier.
Su doctrina y su ejemplo de santidad han sido recibidos con gran entusiasmo por
todas las categorías de fieles de este siglo, y también más allá de la Iglesia Católica y del
Cristianismo.
Con ocasión del Centenario de su muerte, el Papa Juan Pablo II la declaró
Doctora de la Iglesia por la solidez de su sabiduría espiritual, inspirada en el Evangelio, por la
originalidad de sus intuiciones teológicas, en las cuales resplandece su eminente doctrina, y por la
acogida en todo el mundo de su mensaje espiritual, difundido a través de la traducción de sus obras
en una cincuentena de lenguas diversas. La ceremonia del nombramiento tuvo lugar el 19 de octubre de
1.997, precisamente en el domingo en el que se celebra la Jornada Mundial de las Misiones.

de anunciar el Evangelio hasta la consumación de los siglos; ayudad, os lo pedimos a los sacerdotes,
a los misioneros, a toda la Iglesia."

en acción de gracias por los dones de naturaleza y gracia concedidos por el Señor a santa Teresita
en los 24 años que vivió en la tierra:

Santa Terezinha
|
|
Santa Teresa do Menino Jesus e da Sagrada Face
teve uma vida bastante breve.
Nasceu em Alençon, na França, a 2 dejaneiro de 1873, e morreu com apenas 24
anos, no dia 30 de setembro de 1897.
Aos 14 anos já desejava ardentemente abraçar a vida contemplativa no Carmelo de Lisieux, mas é
impedida devido a sua pouca idade. Por ocasião de uma peregrinação pela Itália, em uma audiência
concedida pelo Papa aos fiéis de sua diocese, ela audaciosamente dirige a palavra a Leão XIII
e pede-lhe permissão para entrar no Carmelo. O pedido é concedido, e Teresa entra para o
convento carmelita de Lisieux em 1888, com apenas 15 anos de idade.
Avançou com passos firmes e rápidos pelo caminho da santidade, seguindo o
caminho de perfeição traçado pela Madre Fundadora das carmelitas descalças, Teresa de Jesus,
e guiada pela assídua leitura da Sagrada Escritura, de São João da Cruz e da Imitação de Cristo.
Terezinha insiste sobre a centralidade do amor, descobrindo o pequeno caminho da infância
espiritual.
Na noite de 3 de abril de 1896, entre a Quinta-Feira e a Sexta-Feira Santa,
manifesta-se pela primeira vez a tuberculose, doença que a levará à morte. Teresa acolhe-a
como a misteriosa visita do divino Esposo, e começa então a subida do seu calvário, marcada por uma
dura provação de sua fé. Morre a 30 de setembro de 1897; pouco tempo antes,
escrevera:"não morro, entro na vida". Suas últimas palavras foram:"Meu Deus, eu
Te amo", e são como que o selo de sua existência.
Sua santidade foi reconhecida pela Igreja em poucos anos, fato excepcional. A 17 de
maio de 1925 Pio XI canoniza-a, dizendo ser ela a estrela de seu pontificado. Em 1927 foi
proclamada, juntamente com São Francisco Xavier, padroeira da missões. Seu reconhecimento é
coroado a 19 de outubro de 1997, quando o Papa João Paulo II atribui-lhe o título de Doutora
da Igreja.
