vivid chatoyancy. The larger beads are 15mm lampwork. The chaplet is completed by a
striking 2" sterling medal of the Blessed Sacrament, cast from an antique.

Prayers

When the priest adds a drop or two of water to the chalice with the wine in it he
refers to how Christ took our humanity up into a bond with His divinity. The wine symbolizes at this
moment His divinity and the water our humanity. Also, remember that the baptized also participate in
their own way (not the same way as a priest) in the priesthood of Christ. They are called to offer
their sacrifices at Mass too. They have at this moment a chance to make an act of unity with the
sacrfice (Mass is a sacrifice) being raised up by the priest. Picture it this way: at that moment, you
can place all your troubles, cares, intentions, concerns, pains, sufferings, joys, acts of thankgiving,
into that chalice the priest is preparing. Just as the wine takes in the water and transforms it, so
too your offerings will be taken up by God.
Prayer over the mixing of water and wine: "By the mystery of this
water and wine may we come to share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our
humanity."
This is a profound and amazing prayer, dating back to St. Ambrose of Milan, bishop and doctor, who
lived in the 4th c. He was the man who baptized St. Augustine of Hippo.

Fr. John T. Zuhlsdorf

beads, recalling the 33 years of Christ's life on earth.
On the medal one makes a spiritual communion as follows:
"As I cannot now receive Thee, my Jesus, in Holy Communion, come,
spiritually into my heart, and make it Thine own forever."
On each bead say:
"Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament on the altar have mercy on us!"
Approved May 30, 1911 by Pope Pius X (The Holy Father has granted to
the entire world 300 days indulgence each time the above prayer is recited.)

This devotion is prayed on the standard Dominican (59-bead) Rosary.
Begin with the Sign of the Cross
On the first large bead, pray
My God, I love you with my whole heart,
I repent of ever having offended You,
never permit me to offend You again,
grant that I may love You always,
and then do with me what You will.
Amen
On the next 3 small beads, pray 3 Hail Mary...
Beginning with the next large bead,
Before each decade, on the large bead, say the following prayer:
Hail Mary,
0 Mother of the Most Holy Eucharist,
help me to believe completely,
help me to love completely,
help me to live what I believe
and love completely.
On the 10 small beads, pray:
"0 Mother help me!
After each decade, say the Memorare To Mary:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your
protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with with
confidence, I fly to you, O virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come, before you I stand, sinful
and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and
answer me. Amen
Conclude on the centerpiece with:
Dearest Mother,
I Believe, that Jesus Christ,
your Son is truly present
in the Sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist,
Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
I Believe, that He is the,
only begotten Son of God,
Who became Man to save me, a sinner.
By partaking of this Most Holy Sacrament,
I profess:
That I believe in the One,
Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church
and that Her teachings and sacraments
were instituted by Christ.
That because this
is truly His Precious Body
and life giving Blood,
to receive Him in the state of grace
will bring healing to both my soul and body,
but to knowingly receive Him
in the state of mortal sin
will bring me judgement and condemnation.
Returning to the first large bead, pray:
Dearest Virgin of Virgins,
I declare these truths
before You as my Witness,
that You who are the great Mother of God.
May you remember me before my Lord and Master,
now and at the hour of my death.
Amen.
On the next 3 small beads, pray
0 Mother of the Most Holy Eucharist,
Pray for us.

VATICAN CITY, JUNE 10, 2004 (
Zenit.org
).- On the feast of Corpus Christi, His Holiness John Paul II announced a "Year of the
Eucharist" that the Catholic Church will observe from October 2004 to October 2005.
At the Mass he presided over today in the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the Pope explained that the
Year of the Eucharist will begin with the International Eucharistic Congress, Oct. 10-17, in
Guadalajara, Mexico.
The year "will end with the next ordinary assembly of the Synod of Bishops, which will be held in
the Vatican from October 2-29, 2005, and whose theme will be 'The Eucharist: Source and Summit of the
Life and Mission of the Church,'" the Holy Father added.
John Paul II, who reminded the faithful that the "Church lives from the Eucharist," has made
this sacrament the focus of his pastoral concern, as reflected in his 2003 encyclical, "Ecclesia
de Eucharistia."
"Christ, 'the living bread which came down from heaven,' is the only one who can satisfy man's
hunger at all times and in all parts of the earth," he said.
In the Eucharist, "Christ gives his Body and Blood for the life of humanity. And all those who
nourish themselves worthily at his table, become living instruments of his presence of love, mercy and
peace," the Pope explained.
As has been the custom since the beginning of this pontificate, at the end of the Mass John Paul II
presided over the procession of the Eucharist from the Basilica of St. John Lateran to that of St.
Mary Major.
